Without an account

Your scores, streak and settings are stored only on your phone. Deleting the app deletes them.

With an account

You can sign in with Apple, Google, or a one-time code sent to your email. I never see or ask for a password. Your email address is used only to send sign-in codes and to find your account.

Your account stores:

• Your handle, which other players can see.
• Your country, based on your connection. Nothing more precise.
• Your games: scores, moves, Daily results and streak.
• Your friends, matches and any reports you've made.

Moves are stored so the server can verify your score and so others can watch leaderboard replays.

Ads

Ads are provided by Google AdMob and shown after a game ends. In the EU and UK, Google's consent form asks for your permission first. On iOS, you'll also be asked whether the app can track you across other apps.

Ads are only personalized if you agree to personalization, confirm your age allows it, and allow tracking. Otherwise they're non-personalized. If you buy ad removal, the app stops requesting ads and stops asking for consent.

Purchases

Payments are handled by Apple and Google. RevenueCat tells my server what you've bought. I never receive your card number or billing address.

Crash reports

Crash reports are sent to Sentry. They exclude IP addresses, screenshots, view hierarchy and local variables, and the app removes any remaining personal data before sending.

Analytics

The game logs events like starting a puzzle, finishing a run or making a purchase. Each event includes a profile ID and your country, but no handle, email, device ID or address.

Analytics data is kept for ninety days. The analytics service can't delete individual records, so deleting your account doesn't remove it right away. It expires within ninety days.

Notifications

Push notifications are off unless you turn them on. Your device's push token is sent to Expo's push service to deliver them, and is deleted if you turn them off.

Device checks

To keep fake installs off the leaderboards, the app may ask Apple or Google to confirm it's running on a real device. This doesn't identify you.

Deleting your data

Go to Settings → Account → Delete account. Your profile, handle, email, games and friends are deleted within seven days.

Leaderboard scores stay, but without your name, so other players' rankings don't change. Analytics data expires within ninety days as described above.

This website

This site has no analytics, no cookies and no third-party content, fonts included. It's hosted by Cloudflare, which keeps standard server logs.

Children

WordTree is rated for all ages. If the age you give is below the limit for personalized ads, you'll only see non-personalized ads until you change it.
